Mar. 16 Louisville We Have a Problem

Today was a good day. The pain is decreasing and I am starting to get around better. I got to go to rehearsal today and work the scene I'm in. That was a lot of fun. I was also there for the first load out today. I only got to watch. It was quite hard to watch my friends have to work while I did nothing but sit. I am trying to come up with supportive ways I can help, even if it just means being an extra set of eyes watching to make sure nothing bad happens. I think The End is going to be a lot of fun. And we open on Friday NIGHT!!!!
Peace be with you

Mar. 13 Grind Stones Needed

A nice walk in the park followed by some break dancing and reading, followed by change over, food and show. I am so tired but I only got to survive tomorrow and then we get a day off.
Peace be with you

Mar. 12 Needed Rest

Was able to get some much needed rest over the past couple of days. There has been a lot of crazy stuff going on recently and I feel like we have finally gotten a bit of respite from all the insanity. It's about to kick back into High Gear for the rest of March but for some reason it seems a little more manageable.
The weather has started to get nicer out here too. Today the sun is shining and the air smells clean like Spring is on the way.
Peace be with you

Mar. 10 Bureaucrats

Humana is well under way now. I am astonished at how much can get done in such a short amount of time. I am continually impressed by how hard my group of friends can work. I think this is going to be a Humana to remember, that is for sure. I got most of today off so I am trying to take it as easy as I can. Tension is a killer.
I also get to go to the opening of Elemo Pea tonight. I am very excited about that.
Peace be with you

Mar. 5 Change It, Change It, Change It

We had a busy day to say the least. Stress levels reached an all time high in the Bingham theater. We somehow managed to make it all work. I learned a lot about my limits and I know I am nearing mine as far as how much work can be crammed into a single six day week. But even with SFAFUs and the like we had a great ending with singing and celebrating.

This is going to be great.

Mar. 2 Open of A Devil at Noon

All I can say is, "Today been LONG!" 8AM to 1 AM!!! But we opened A Devil At Noon to a wonderful house and audience. I am so proud to be a part of Humana. It is going to be a wonderful ride.

Mar. 1 It Goes it Really Really Goes

My Humana work group is Amazing. (Also, we OPEN A Devil at Noon tomorrow!!!) I am so excited I can't wait. I am so blessed to be working with such a self-motivated and enthusiastic group of people. We reduced our change over time from two hours last night down to one hour tonight. It was amazing. We'll see how we do tomorrow with two changes in a day again. Two is one day is tough but not impossible. And within a week we will be doing three changes in one DAY. Life's a bitch but sometimes it sure can be fun.
Peace be with you

Feb. 27 First of a Zillion Change Overs

Today we had our first Humana show change over. And this was my third fifteen hour day in a row. Damn it feels good to be alive. We took out the set of A Devil at Noon and replaced it with the set for Maple and Vine in a little more than two hours. We hope to get that down to under and hour. It seems possible...but oh so hard. It was great to get to work with such a large group of apprentices again and see many of us all in the same place again. I get a really good feeling about this years Humana. I think it is going to just ROCK AND ROLL
Peace be with you

Feb. 26 HUMANATARIANISM

SO THE GREAT HUMANA HAS BEGUN!
I am already exhausted. I am also very excited. It is going to be wonderful I can tell. It is going to be tiring, fatiguing, frustrating and that will only take us to lunch. But seriously I am not sure if I have ever been this intimidated by a work schedule before. The mystery also holds the exhilaration. I know I have not blogged in a while, but I have been just so busy I don't even have time to think. Ok, that's no excuse, but I have been very busy. But I'm here right? Tomorrow we preview A Devil At Noon. It is one hell of a show. I am very excited to be on the crew for it. And I can't wait to get cracking on the other shows that are soon to be infiltrating the Bingham theater.
Peace be with you

Went to Indianapolis today. Ate great food. Met cool people and listened to amazing JAZZ music performed by the musical talent of Kurt Elling!
It's just been a great day.

Feb. 12 Where we go we no know

More work on the apprentice show The End. It was fun. We had a three hour fight workshop. I get eaten by a zombie!
I went out to dinner and a movie with Liz. We saw, The King's Speech. It was pretty good I must say.
Tomorrow I am going to see a concert by Kurt Elling. I am very excited. I love his music and can't wait to go see him.
I think this has shaped up to be a great week.

Feb. 9 Write in and Spike it

I have been all in a tizzy recently. I have been working on a couple independent projects. First is on gaining info on how to direct Shakespeare. It has been a lot of fun getting to work with my peers on this and getting to see the kinds of differences in style we all have. Second, I have been doing a lot of writing on the topic of racism in the United States of America. It has just been on my mind and I have had to express myself in some way through art. I am not sure if either of these temporary musings will result in anything concrete when all is said and done but for now I am passionate about it and hope the momentum not only lasts but gains velocity.
Peace be with you

Feb. 6 Humana is Gonna Be CRAZY!!!

So I went to my first rehearsal for the Apprentice Humana show two days ago. It was great to see the play writes again and to hear all the wonderful and fun changes they had made to the script. Also, I started helping out with one of the other Humana shows. I think it is going to be a lot of fun to get to watch the pro workshop a new play and compare it to how the apprentices workshop a play. I can already tell the next couple of months are going to be absolutely crazy and there is little I can do to slow it down. It's going to be May before I know it.
I am also in the midst of some new solo work I am creating. Its topic is race and gender issues. I have a lot of people who love me and want to help me with this. I really feel like I am starting something big.
Peace be with you

Jan. 31 Director!

I directed my first show in a 24hour play festival. It was just a wonderful experience. I owe much love to my brothers in arms, Scott, Brandon and Peter. Plus my sister Christina (the author) It was wonderful to watch a play go from zero to great in just a matter of hours, well 24 to be exact. I am really learning to love this theatre thing!

Jan. 27 Back from the Windy City

Chicago has some great food. I really had a great time there. Saw some good shows and just enjoyed myself. I am not sure if it is a place I want to move to but I sure did enjoy visiting. We are now in for the slow countdown to the Humana Madness. I am not sure how it's going to go but I am sure it is going to be crazy!!!
I have been thinking a lot about my future after I leave here and I tell you what so far the sky seems to be the limit.

Jan. 15 Let's Get Dangerous

Today was the last day of scheduled activities for the next two weeks! I get to spend some time sleeping in, romping in the great city of Louisville and Chicago, not at the same time, and I get to spend some good quality time working on projects I have been cooking up since I got here. Shakespeare, Commedia, and more!!!
Today I had an audition for a one night part in the Humana show A Devil at Noon. I am not sure what the chances are I will get the part, but I am very confident that I did good work in the room and I am very happy with my performance.

Jan. 14 And the Tens Shall Close

It has been a short and dirty run but it has been fun. I have really enjoyed getting to work on these delightful plays. I have really enjoyed getting to work with and meet the playwrite. He is quite a character and it seems totally possible this crazy work of fiction came from his brain. After tonight begins the second little break the apprentices will get this year and the last sort of room to breath we will get until after Humana is over! I am excited for the future.

Jan. 12 All We Can Do is Hope

Sad news from the Ville.
One of the actors from A Christmas Carol passed away two days ago. Had had been in the resident company for over thirty years here at Actors. I was fortunate enough to get to know him and work with him.
The Tens are a blast. We have two shows to go. The Last Hat, the show I'm in is great. I am very excited about the future.
Next week, the whole company will be traveling to Chicago on a whirlwind audition trip. It's gonna be CRAZY.
Peace be with you

Jan. 10 Let the Tens Begin

Tonight was our first dress rehearsal for the One Act festival we are in called The Tens. All the shows look really good and are a lot of fun. I am always so excited to get to watch my fellow actors do good work. We open tomorrow night. I think it is going to be a great show. We only have a six performances but I don't care. It's work and we are having fun.

Jan. 9 Me a Director?

I have been toying with the idea of directing and I am not sure I can pass it up. I really enjoy directing and I think it is an avenue I should pursue. And will hopefully get my chance with a 24hour play festival coming up soon.
I had a good day. There was a meeting this morning. Which I did not fall asleep during because I got nine hours of sleep last night!!!!
Went to a delicious breakfast with my lovely girlfriend! Then had a technical rehearsal for my ten minute show. After I went home, I did laundry, listened to Vivaldi and cleaned my room.
I feel as though I have done quite a bit today.

Jan. 6 Fun Times in the Pit

What a great day. It was filled with building floors and setting up for the next show here at Actor's Theatre. I don't think I have had this much fun at work before. I don't even remember work feeling like work. Instead I just remember laughing and having just a peach of a time. I could be so lucky again tomorrow.

Jan. 5 Load OUT

The Christmas Carol set is GONE!!!! YAY. I am kind of having a Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader moment. Now that the set has been DESTROYED I don't know what to do with myself.
The next week is going to be a little crazy but then we get a payed vacation so to speak. I can't wait.
Peace be with you

Jan. 3 TWO out of TWO

Let the second half begin.
I had a great visit at home. It was great to be back in Oregon and see my family and eat at my favorite restaurants.
If I thought the first half went fast, the second half is going to fly. Humana here we come.
I am excited about many of the opportunities I have coming up.
